The Gore Medical Fellows Cardiac Program offers a variety of in-person, virtual or self-guided educational offerings to meet your needs for a customizable learning curriculum that covers foundational principles and best practices in the clinical use of the GORE® CARDIOFORM Septal Occluder and GORE® CARDIOFORM ASD Occluder.

Interventional Cardiology Fellows PFO and ASD Workshop

Course overview
Train alongside leading faculty and network with other fellows at this workshop focused on clinical application, using a combination of case planning discussions, simulated case experiences and model deployments. This workshop will help to build your confidence in performing patent foramen ovale (PFO) and atrial septal defect (ASD) closures with the GORE® CARDIOFORM Septal Occluder and performing ASD closures with the GORE® CARDIOFORM ASD Occluder.

Who should attend
This course is open to pediatric and congenital interventional cardiovascular fellows.

This course is offered every spring (April/May) with a limited number of spots available.


The Gore Medical Vascular Disease Fellows Program offers a variety of training opportunities for fellows and residents working in the aortic and peripheral disease space.

As you begin your training program, Gore offers fellows and residents a welcome kit that introduces you to Gore devices and includes educational resources to use throughout your career.


Pre-Intern Training for Vascular Residents

Course overview
This training course teaches the skills necessary to be functional on the floor and in the OR for incoming vascular surgery integrated residents on their first day of residency. During this 3-day intensive training, attendees will learn how to gown and scrub, recognize instrumentation, conduct an ankle-brachial index (ABI), practice essential suturing techniques, perform exposures and more.

Who should attend
This course is limited to newly matched first year integrated vascular surgery residents.

Registration/more information
This course is offered every June with a limited number of spots available. Program directors and coordinators initiate the nomination process for registration. If you're interested in attending, please have your program director reach out to us below.


Vascular Fellows Workshop

Course overview
This workshop focuses on providing product and procedural education for endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR), thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR), iliac branch procedures and peripheral artery disease (PAD) through didactic presentations, physician case discussions, case planning workshops and simulator sessions.

Who should attend
This workshop is best suited to graduating vascular surgery fellows and integrated residents, but is open to any registered attendee of the SVS/UCLA Wes Moore course.

Registration/more information
This workshop is offered every August in conjunction with the SVS/UCLA Wes Moore course. Attendees who are nominated by their program directors and coordinators to attend the Moore course will then be sent an invitation to register for the Gore workshop.

Complex Aortic Workshop

Course overview
This advanced abdominal symposium is designed to allow attendees to learn and participate in peer-to-peer clinical discussions regarding the treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) with challenging aortic landing zones, treating hostile aortic necks and internal iliac preservation. The course consists of key insights into clinical approaches, interactive case studies, algorithms and faculty-led discussions on endovascular approaches to AAA treatment including the latest in EVAR technologies and faculty insights.

Who should attend
This course is available to a limited number of graduating fellows and integrated residents who have completed GORE® EXCLUDER® Conformable AAA Endoprosthesis and GORE® EXCLUDER® Iliac Branch Endoprosthesis clinical training and the required training cases for device certification, as well as have participated in a minimum of 15 EVAR procedures and have a solid understanding in treating abdominal aortic aneurysms.

This workshop is offered one to two times annually. Please check with your Gore Field Sales Associate for registration information.



Cardiothoracic Fellows TEVAR Workshop

Course overview
Through interactive case studies, device deployments, simulated procedures and clinical discussions, attendees of this 1.5-day educational event will learn valuable TEVAR repair techniques and treatment insights from leading cardiothoracic surgeons.

Who should attend
Enrollment is prioritized for cardiothoracic surgery fellows and integrated residents in their final years of training.

Advanced Aortic Therapies for TEVAR

Course overview
This course offers hands-on skill development combined with treatment and technique insights presented by surgeons highly proficient in TEVAR to support developing advanced skills related to endovascular technologies and gain an elevated understanding of patient selection and case planning for TEVAR.

Who should attend
Graduating cardiothoracic surgery trainees who attended the CT Fellows TEVAR Workshop and vascular surgery trainees who wish to develop or expand TEVAR skills and knowledge.

Dialysis Access Workshop

Course overview
This 2-day workshop is a one-of-a-kind immersive educational experience where participants will engage in didactic presentation, live case observation, retrospective case review and discussion in arteriovenous (AV) access creation and revision.

Who should attend
Fellows responsible for hemodialysis patient care seeking to advance their skills, learn new techniques and technologies, talk through complex cases and expand their peer network.

Hands-On Liver Lab

Course overview
This program offers participants the opportunity to perform the most challenging part of the TIPS procedure — the portal puncture — in an ex-vivo porcine model. The program will consist of an evening of clinical discussion followed by a full day of hands-on time in the lab. Attendance is limited.

Who should attend
Interventional radiology residents (PGY-5, PGY-6), early career attendings or those attendings with limited TIPS experience seeking to build on their foundational knowledge.

Complex Infrarenal Repair Including Internal Iliac Preservation

Course overview
This course offers attendees key insights into clinical approaches, interactive case studies, algorithms and faculty-led discussions regarding the treatment of common iliac or aortoiliac aneurysms.

Attendees will learn/experience: 

  • Deployment techniques and treatment considerations for the GORE® EXCLUDER® Iliac Branch Endoprosthesis (IBE).
  • Endovascular approaches to hypogastric preservation including the latest in EVAR technologies.
  • An active discussion on the prevention and management of common EVAR complications.

Who should attend
This symposium is designed for physicians who have completed the IBE clinical training requirements and participated in a minimum of 15 EVAR procedures with a solid understanding of treatment for abdominal aneurysms.

This course is limited to newly matched first year integrated vascular surgery residents across the United States.

GORE® CARDIOFORM ASD Occluder

INDICATIONS FOR USE IN THE U.S.: The GORE® CARDIOFORM ASD Occluder is a permanently implanted device indicated for the percutaneous, transcatheter closure of ostium secundum atrial septal defects (ASDs). 

CONTRAINDICATIONS: The GORE® CARDIOFORM ASD Occluder is contraindicated for use in patients: Unable to take anti-platelet or anticoagulant medications such as aspirin, heparin or warfarin; with anatomy where the GORE® CARDIOFORM ASD Occluder size or position would interfere with other intracardiac or intravascular structures, such as cardiac valves or pulmonary veins; with active endocarditis, or other infections producing bacteremia, or patients with known sepsis within one month of planned implantation, or any other infection that cannot be treated successfully prior to device placement; with known intracardiac thrombi. 

GORE® CARDIOFORM Septal Occluder

INDICATIONS FOR USE IN THE U.S.: The GORE® CARDIOFORM Septal Occluder is a permanently implanted device indicated for the percutaneous, transcatheter closure of the following defects of the atrial septum: ostium secundum atrial septal defects (ASDs); patent foramen ovale (PFO) to reduce the risk of recurrent ischemic stroke in patients, predominantly between the ages of 18 and 60 years, who have had a cryptogenic stroke due to a presumed paradoxical embolism, as determined by a neurologist and cardiologist following an evaluation to exclude known causes of ischemic stroke.

CONTRAINDICATIONS: The GORE® CARDIOFORM Septal Occluder is contraindicated for use in patients: unable to take antiplatelet or anticoagulant medications such as aspirin, heparin or warfarin; with anatomy where the GORE® CARDIOFORM Septal Occluder size or position would interfere with other intracardiac or intravascular structures, such as cardiac valves or pulmonary veins; with active endocarditis, or other infections producing bacteremia, or patients with known sepsis within one month of planned implantation, or any other infection that cannot be treated successfully prior to device placement; with known intracardiac thrombi. 

GORE® EXCLUDER® Conformable AAA Endoprosthesis

INDICATIONS FOR USE IN THE U.S.: The GORE® EXCLUDER® Conformable AAA Endoprosthesis is intended to exclude the aneurysm from the blood circulation in patients diagnosed with infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) disease and who have appropriate anatomy as described below: Adequate iliac/femoral access; Infrarenal aortic neck treatment diameter range of 16-32 mm and a minimum aortic neck length of 10 mm; Proximal aortic neck angulation ≤ 90°; Iliac artery treatment diameter range of 8-25 mm and iliac distal vessel seal zone length of at least 10 mm. Aortic Extender Endoprosthesis and Iliac Extender Endoprosthesis Components are intended to be used after deployment of the GORE® EXCLUDER® Conformable AAA Endoprosthesis. These extensions are intended to be used when additional length and/or sealing for aneurysmal exclusion is desired. 

CONTRAINDICATIONS: The GORE® EXCLUDER® Conformable AAA Endoprosthesis is contraindicated in: patients with known sensitivities or allergies to the device materials. All components of the GORE® EXCLUDER® Conformable Endoprosthesis contain expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE), fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP), nitinol (nickel-titanium alloy) and gold. Patients with systemic infection who may be at increased risk of endovascular graft infection. 

GORE® EXCLUDER® Iliac Branch Endoprosthesis

INDICATIONS FOR USE IN THE U.S.: Iliac Branch and Internal Iliac Components. The GORE® EXCLUDER® Iliac Branch Endoprosthesis (IBE) is intended to be used with the GORE® EXCLUDER® AAA Endoprosthesis or the GORE® EXCLUDER® Conformable AAA Endoprosthesis to isolate the common iliac artery from systemic blood flow and preserve blood flow in the external iliac and internal iliac arteries in patients with a common iliac or aortoiliac aneurysm, who have appropriate anatomy, including: adequate iliac/ femoral access; minimum common iliac diameter of 17 mm at the proximal implantation zone of the IBE; external Iliac artery treatment diameter range of 6.5–25 mm and seal zone length of at least 10 mm; internal iliac artery treatment diameter range of 6.5–13.5 mm and seal zone length of at least 10 mm; adequate length from the lowest major renal artery to the internal iliac artery to accommodate the total endoprosthesis length, calculated by adding the minimum lengths of required components, taking into account appropriate overlaps between components. GORE® EXCLUDER® AAA Endoprosthesis Components used in conjunction with GORE® EXCLUDER® Iliac Branch Endoprosthesis. Trunk-Ipsilateral Leg Component. The Trunk-Ipsilateral Leg is intended to provide proximal seal and fixation for the endovascular repair of the aneurysm. For more information on the Trunk-Ipsilateral Leg Component indications for use and deployment, see the GORE® EXCLUDER® AAA Endoprosthesis or the GORE® EXCLUDER® Conformable Endoprosthesis Instructions for Use. Contralateral Leg Endoprosthesis Component. The Contralateral Leg Endoprosthesis is intended to bridge the GORE® EXCLUDER® Device Trunk-Ipsilateral Component to the GORE® EXCLUDER® Iliac Branch Endoprosthesis following deployment of the GORE® EXCLUDER® Iliac Branch Endoprosthesis. Additionally, the Contralateral Leg Endoprosthesis is intended to be used for distal extension of the Iliac Branch Component in the external iliac artery. The Iliac Branch Component can treat external iliac artery diameters up to 13.5 mm. This ability to extend the Iliac Branch Component distally with any Contralateral Leg Endoprosthesis expands the external iliac artery treatment range up to 25 mm. For more information on the Trunk-Ipsilateral Leg and Contralateral Leg Endoprosthesis Component indications for use and deployment, see the GORE® EXCLUDER® AAA Endoprosthesis Instructions for Use. Aortic Extender and Iliac Extender Components. The Aortic and Iliac Extender Components can be used after deployment of the GORE® EXCLUDER® Iliac Branch and GORE® EXCLUDER® AAA Endoprostheses. These extensions are used when additional length and/or sealing for aneurysmal exclusion is desired. GORE® TAG® Conformable Thoracic Stent Graft with ACTIVE CONTROL System

INDICATIONS FOR USE IN THE U.S.: The GORE® TAG® Conformable Thoracic Stent Graft is intended for endovascular repair of all lesions of the descending thoracic aorta, including: isolated lesions in patients who have appropriate anatomy, including: adequate iliac/femoral access, aortic inner diameter in the range of 16-42 mm, ≥ 20 mm non-aneurysmal aorta proximal and distal to the lesion; Type B dissections in patients who have appropriate anatomy, including: adequate iliac/femoral access, ≥ 20 mm landing zone proximal to the primary entry tear; proximal extent of the landing zone must not be dissected, diameter at proximal extent of proximal landing zone in the range of 16-42 mm. 

CONTRAINDICATIONS: The GORE® TAG® Conformable Thoracic Stent Graft is contraindicated in patients with known sensitivities or allergies to the device materials; patients who have a condition that threatens to infect the graft.
